Stained Glass as Inspiration for Crochet Design
Free Pattern for Towel Topper in the Look of Stained Glass
Stained glass items are a wonderful inspiration for the creation of crochet patterns echoing the stained glass techniques.
The link within this next paragraph will take you on an Internet tour of a site displaying items in the art of stained glass.
Stained Glass History:
The art of stained glass dates back into
the 3rd millennium BC. (At that time, known as the art of coloring glass.)
By the 6th century, it was traditionally displayed
in churches as stained glass windows, but over time became an art form used in the making
of many other types of items as well. Lamps, mirror panels and door panels are a
few examples. The distinctive feature is that, in stained glass, small panels of color are usually set
off by black outlining.
I have designed a stained glass towel topper for your crochet enjoyment. This towel topper uses the second method of joining the topper to the towel, as shown in the 03/22/97 weekly feature, Towel Toppers.
